Final project proposal
The reasoning behind using adobe illustrator for animating rather than Photoshop, like we have used in the past, is because illustrator is designed for adjusting images and frames much easier when compared to Photoshop. this also means it will take much less time to complete my goal of a final animation.

Final idea mindmap
These are my final ideas. the one that I want to go with, and will base my project around, is the fantasy style animation. It will most likely feature a short battle, meaning I will have no need for voice acting in it. It will also likely be no longer than three minutes long.

Possible alternate character design
Final 3D piece
This plaster model is the final part of my clay/latex project. after the latex had set we filled it with liquid plaster of paris. the back of my model is broken because of the awkward shape making it difficult to extract from the mould.

1917:
The first ever feature film was called was called El Apostol. It was made with cut-outs in Argentina by Quirino Cristani. It was 70 minutes long and was made of 58,000 frames total.

The first ever film to feature synchronised sound was called 'oh Mable', Created by Dave Fleischer. none of the characters actually speak in the animation.
1930: 'King of Jazz' was a three minute feature film made by Walter Lantz. It was the first ever technicolour film.
1940: Walt Disney's second ever film produced was fantasia, after Snow White. This was made with stereophonic sound for the first time.

This was the first animation made in wide screen format and was Walt Disney's 15 feature film.
1961: 101 Dalmatians

1983: Abracadabra, by Alex Stitt, was the first ever feature film produced in stereoscopic 3D.
1985: The adventures of Mark Twain, by Mark Twain, was the first ever film made with stop motion animation.
1995: Toy Story became the first ever fully animated movie.
2003: Wizards and Giants, by Anima Estudios, was the first ever film fully animated in the vector package Adobe flash.
2010: Toy story 3 was released in 7.1 surround sound and was the first ever animated film to be.
Christmas Home work sketches
These were the basic level sketches that I completed over the Christmas holidays. The first is just a piece of the level from around the middle of the game, it highlights the basic enemy and the mech (which I later scrapped due to time constraints.) This design went on to become the background for my level.
The second piece would have been for a final boss if I had the ability to create an expanded level.
This piece highlighted some of the other enemies that would have been in my game. It also displayed on of the pick up boxes which would have been in a hidden area.
2D Evaluation
Evaluation questions for 2D platform games.
What drawings have you done for this project?
I have drawn my initial sketches. These include the ship that attacks in the opening scene, the ship that the actual game is set on, the enemies you have to fight and the main character. I have also completed my finalised design for my game background.
What materials did I use?
For my initial sketches I used the traditional materials of pencil and sketching paper, meaning if I made any mistakes they would be very easy to rectify with an eraser. As my sketches became more developed I moved onto using Photoshop, which is how I completed my coloured and developed background sketch.
How successful was I at using these materials?
I believe I was very successful when it came to using Photoshop, as I was able to design, draw and colour my ideas nearly exactly as I had imagined them in my head. The sketch pad was also very useful as it allowed me an easy method of designing and correcting my mistakes.
How did drawing help to formulate and develop these ideas?
By sketching out my designs it enabled me to change and adjust a few points that did not work out very well in my mind. This meant that any object that would not be practical would be able to be replaced with another object.
What techniques have you used?
The techniques I used involved sketching, shading, blending and cross-hatching.
What processes have I used?
The process that I used involved sketching my designs into my book, creating a finalized painting on photoshop, animating, modelling and moulding.
How successful were these at helping you to achieve your 2D project?
I believe these techniques were very useful as they allowed me to understand the depth of a platformer game. The modelling was also helpful in allowing me to see what my enemy should like like in my mind.
